Shoplet’s Roaring Springs Environmental Paper Review

Does everyone know that this Sunday is Earth Day?  Well, it is and that means we should all be doing our part to both practice and spread the word about environmental awareness.  One way to do this is by using sustainable products wherever possible.  Shoplet Office Supplies hasn’t let us down in that department and I think this is the perfect time to review just a few of the many recycled products they have available there:

First, let’s talk about elephants.  Now you are probably saying to yourself “what do elephants have to do with office supplies”?  Well, it just so happens that elephant dung is a great source for the pulp used to make paper!  Elephants eat a lot of grass and grass has a lot of fiber and it turns out that their digestive systems don’t break down this fiber very well.  Fiber is the base material used in paper pulp and there it is!  Roaring Spring Elephant PooPoo Paper is a great example of this recycling process.  Available in Mini-Notebooks and Note Pads and you would never, ever guess it was made from elephant dung!  It’s a cute little paper cube with pretty (almost linen looking) paper.  It would be great for the desk or near the telephone – anywhere you need to jot down a quick note.  What a clever idea.. we help the elephants eat and they help us write!

Did you know that you can also make paper from sugar cane?  It turns out that the waste fibers left over from the sugar making process are another great source of fiber for creating paper pulp.  Roaring Spring Environotes Sugarcane Notebooks are made from exactly this process.  Not only that, but the fiber paper is converted into the finished product right here in the United States.  That alone had me sold on it.   This is a half size notebook: 9 1/2 x 6, 1 Subject and 80 Sheets, College Rule.  The paper is bright and of good quality.  It feels great to know that I’m doing my part in saving the forest by using this paper notebook.

Another great notebook online at Shoplet is the Roaring Spring Wirebound 3 Subject Notebook.   This is a standard sized 11″ x 9″ Notebook with  120 Sheets and three colors of paper.  It is heavy duty with a snag free binding and has a nice pocket on the inside cover.  It is made from 30% recycled materials and also created in the United States.  I love the bright colors and the way the paper tears off easily from the binding without ripping or tearing and of course I love the fact that it contains recycled materials.

That about sums it up.  You can see that it really doesn’t take much for us to all do our part in protecting our precious earth and making the most of the resources it has to offer.  Just the Sugarcane Paper alone helps conserve over 60,000 acres of forestland every year!  Think what a difference we can all make by purchasing products such as these.

Shoplet sent me a selection of Roaring Spring Paper Products to use for this review. No Monetary compensation was received and these opinions are my own.
